The Final Descent
A downloadable game for Windows
The Final Descent is a survival horror FPS where every choice carves your fate. Ride a creaking industrial elevator into the depths of a forgotten mine, searching for fuel, supplies, and the last trace of a missing child. Stop on floors to scavenge, fight off zombified miners, and decide what’s worth taking.
Your elevator is your lifeline, but it runs on fuel, and space is scarce. Will you risk one more stop to search for ammo, or descend blindly into the unknown?
Death resets you, but the elevator remembers. Only those who manage their fear, and their inventory, will survive the descent to floor 10… and what lies beyond.

From what I've seen this is one awesome game and I can't wait the first opportunity to play it for a bit longer than I already have, aesthetics and art style are truly amazing and, It's easy to see that a lot of work is put into this, I absolutely love the 2.5D style if that's the name of it I'm not sure, reminds me of an old Russian game if I remember correctly, called something like 3d fps shooter (something generic) looked similar in style to this one with 2d enemies and hands but 3d environment, your looks better of course, keep up with great work and wish you all the best!
big thx
I really liked this game! It has pleasing visuals and great sound design. I recommend you give this game a try!
A fast playthrough for interested people :
This is a REALLY well-done DOOM style boomer shooter game!! As much as I’d love to complete it, I don’t have the guts to do so lol.
Great entry on all aspects. Some feedback would be to make the damage done to player or enemy a bit clearer/pop and a bit easier to use the ammo and other items. But for a game jam experience, great work as always (after our Curtain Chaos collab) xD
New update is out!!!
Love the recent changes! The sound and improved enemy sprites add a lot to the game. A few bugs I caught:
- I couldn't get up the small ledge to get the ammo on levels 5 or 9, which meant I didn't have much ammo the whole time.
- Enemies pretty consistently get stuck on/can't climb ramps, ledges, and stairs.
- A couple times I shot an enemy in close range and instead of dying it just stood there, not trying to attack me but not despawning. I think I killed it but the game didn't register that I did. I'm a Godot developer but when I ran into bugs like this in my own games it was because I was using a state machine for the enemies and I hadn't set up the "attack" to "die" state transition properly. Just an idea about what might be causing this!
- One idea for the next patch would be to add sounds for taking damage. That would be super helpful to know when you're low.
Nonetheless, great progress and gameplay!
Thx a lot for more feedback, Ill note it for the next patch.
Definitely a very cool game! For feedback, I definitely agree with others that adding audio will add a lot more to the gameplay and give it a lot more juice. All of the times I died were times when I couldn't hear an enemy sneaking up behind me, so it'd be great to hear them. Even some background whirring/wind rumbling would go a long way. Aside from continuing to polish it, other cool ideas would be adding some new movement mechanics. Maybe like a dash mechanic, or something like that? Just some ideas, but keep up the great work!
Thank you for feedback, Im currently working on fixing audio, art and some other bugs, hopefully new patch will be available today.
I look forward to the new patch!
New update is out!!!
Cool project!
I really like the core idea of it, managing your resources as you descend through a survival horror dungeon crawl is a great concept!
I wanted to give some general feedback as well (This is based on the BugFixes_1 version):
- I liked the art and general direction overall!
- The general lack of audio (atmospheric, enemy, item interaction, punching) was pretty noticeable, glad it was there for important moments like shooting, running of out fuel, and triggering the elevator!
- Punching didn't give great visual feedback and wasn't very effective (I wasn't able to kill a enemy with it)
- In the well lit room (floor 3 a couple of times for me) I wasn't able to climb up on to the ledge that had the shotgun shells on it.
- On my 2 runs, floor 8 didn't exist and was just a void, I'm not sure if that was intentional (could be definitely land as a good joke if it is though, though running out of fuel on a floor like that would be unfortunate), falling to my death in this area didn't allow me to open the main menu or respawn, I don't think the game crashed but effectively soft locked. I had to manually close the game.
- It's neat that gas gives you a few floors, I did have a surplus as a result. If there was more things to use gas on and you could partially fill the elevator that could maybe result in some interesting resource management choices
I totally understand that only so much polish can be done in a couple of days and this is really cool for 1 person in that time, again, it's a great core idea!
Thank you for feedback, Ill take into account your feedback for sure, hopefully new patch will be available today with audio, art and some more bug fixes.
Cool! I'll try to check out the new update today
New update is out!!!
Played through the new update and have some more feedback:
-Capable of spamming punch in a way that desyncs the animation from the decrease in stamina, not sure if an additional punch that can do damage is occurring or not
-Shotgun lacks pick up noise
-Unique sounds for using items could be nice (Gas into elevator, shells into shotgun)
-Nerfing the amount of gas per can to 2 was a good call
-Nice new sprites!
-Nice new audio all around! Great to hear feedback/warning cries from enemies as well from the Player's movement
-Unable to grab items out of storage when elevator is moving
-Wasn't able to get up that one ledge to the shotgun shells in the previously well lit level, may also be good to allow the enemy to more easily drop from the ledge while chasing player
-Portal ambiance noise is good! I can hear a pop when the noise restarts/loops
Really great improvements overall!
Noted, thx for feedback
